I knew that my next project was going to be a Phoenix, since I wanted to work with that color scheme after all the purples, blues and greens of the Bubble Cat. So, I found a pattern that I kinda liked and had to wait for the perfect fabric to come from the dyer. Well over a month later, I had the fabric but I found I didn't really like the pattern enough to stitch it. What's a girl to do? Well, look for a better pattern! Amazingly, not many people have designed patterns with a Phoenix, but I found one that
I loved. Then came the wait for fabric that would do this pattern justice, and a bit of time to get started.
So, I've been stitching
The Phoenix Flame by artist Leia Frazier produced by White Willow Stitching for about a week on an 32 ct overdyed fabric from their Expressions line called "Golden Promise" by Silkweaver. I'm only a few hundred stitches into the project, but I think the molted orange and yellow fabric is a perfect foil for the reds and vibrant oranges of the pattern. I think that I am going to modify the pattern and remove all the black areas to let the fabric shine through.
